About this slide show: Accordions have always had a hold on my fascination, having learned the instrument as a kid and taken it up later in mid-life. I too winced at the Lawrence Welk show in my youth. Later I danced to and watched countless Cajun, Zydeco, and Tex-Mex players. It has been a treat to hear what this universal folk instrument, this very portable organ, does for music. It has also been revealing how an innocent squeeze box brings out the true character of the player. Don't ask me why exactly. The results definitely bear this out. I like how people look playing their main squeeze. |
